Schaukelkarte - Back and Forth Card

Samstag, 16. Juni 2012

***
Hello everyone and welcome to a new issue of Stempeleinmaleins. This week we want to show you how to make a swing card.

***
Beside the usual things like glue, scissors, designer's paper etc you will need 2 1-Cent-coins, round dimensionals, a round punch (smaller than the coins but bigger than the dimensionals), evtl. some doublesided tape and your stamped image. I used this cute rocking horse by Belles'n'Whistles here. But you can also use swings, boats, airplanes or hot air balloons...

***
First thing I did is putting my card base together. I did not glue down the last piece of designer's paper where I want to put my image on. With this I can still change the position of my image later - and of course we need to add the swinging part to this piece of paper.

***
Put the cut out image on top of the last piece of designer's paper exactly where you want to have it on your card later on.

***
Think about the rotation point of your image then, take the image off and mark that point. It depends on the type of your image where you will have to put that rotation point. The rocking horse I've chosen is normally standing on the ground so the head/upper part is swinging more. That's why I choose my rotation point in the lower center. If you use an image of a normal swing your rotation point will be on the top so the swing is moving and not the branch it is fixed to. For the image of a boat floating on the waves I would put the rotation point in the center.
If you aren't sure about which point to choose as the rotation point stamp your image on a scrap sheet of paper, cut it out - this doesn't have to be exactly - and use a pin as your rotation point trying different areas. This will show you which point to use.

***
Punch a whole at the point that you marked before. If your punch isn't long enough you might have to cut it out. If you do so try to make it as round and even as possible. Then put one of the round dimensionals on one of the 1-Cent-coins.

***
Put the coin under the paper, the dimensional has to be in the punched out whole...

***
...and put the 2nd coin on top of the first one. Try to put them on top of each other as exactly as possible. Than put a piece of sticky strip on top of the 2nd coin...

***
...and use this to fix your image on the coin.

***
Turn it all over and put some doublesided tape or dimensionals in the corners. Make sure the coins can still move freely.

***
Then fix it all on top of your card.

***
Last step to do is decorate your card. To avoid the image from rotating totally - it's called swing card and not rotation card - add a flower, a brad or anything like this to stop your image. I used this little blue rose that I put on the designer's paper as my stopper.

***
If you shake the card a little, the image will swing to the left/backwards...

...und nach rechts/vorwärts.
***
...and to the right/forward.

***
You can use this technique not only to make whole images swing but also parts of your image like a kite, a fish on a rope etc.

Und hier sind die Werke vom Team:
